PowerConnect Java 7.3.0 Release Notes

Overview

PowerConnect for Java 7.3.0 release. Install the SCA package using SUM or telnet.

Version 7.x only supports SAP Netweaver 7.5 systems. For older versions of SAP Netweaver please use version 6.9.0.

New

  • Added support for SAP Cloud Connector - the PowerConnect Java agent can now be used to monitor SAP Cloud Connector including OS metrics, heap utilisation, garbage collection, thread states and log files

  • PO lag/delay setting is now configurable in new UI (defaults to 1 minute)

Changes

  • By default the PowerConnect Java Agent will only collect PO payloads that are less than 10MB in size. This is to avoid unecessary overhead, and sending very large payloads to Splunk. The limit is configurable and can be set on a per filter basis

  • Task events are now filtered by the SAP Java process name to avoid duplicates when more than one JVM is running on the same machine

  • License history graph in new UI is now ordered from earliest to latest

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed incorrect label for Database Table extractor in new UI

  • PO Performance extractor relied on specific fields being present to align the metric names and values. In older SAP service packs there are a different number of fields in the data which causes alignment issues. This has now been fixed.

Known Issues

  • The Garbage Collector name in the JVM Overview dashboard in Splunk appears as NULL for SAP Cloud Connector systems. This will be fixed in the next release.

  • There is a known issue where the PowerConnect Java agent sometimes fails to stop. This occurs when the Agent recieves a stop signal whilst it’s running an extractor that uses the http client (topology, po channel status, po performance). The stop request shuts down the http client whilst the extractor is still using it and ends up with a stuck thread. This has been fixed as a hotfix 7.3.1 and in 8.0.0.
